Autumn Term 1 

Week 5

Our stories in English this week have been 'A new house for mouse' and 'the 3 little pigs.' We have focused on our new word of the week, 'dwelling.' Both of these stories explore homes and houses, and we have learnt about different materials that homes can be made out of.

On Thursday, we went on a village walk looking for examples of different house types.

We came back to school and created some houses of our own.

Week 4

The children have been learning about their families, special people in their family and the keyword relatives. The children have enjoyed sharing their photos of the family in school, and we have added many of them to our 'home corner.'

The children have also continued to learn new key sounds and have been practising their letter formations in our rice trays.

 

Week 3

This week, we have been learning about our school community and the people that work in our school community. We went on a tour around the school and saw all the amazing children and adults that work here.

In our Forest School session, we extended our learning to learning how to paint with mud and also created our own Forest School band, called 'The Underground.' The children enjoyed using upturned buckets and pots to become drums and also used twigs and sticks as drumsticks.

We will be building on these areas of learning over the coming weeks!

Week 2

In Forest School this week, we found some 'mammoth tusks', so we decided to make a shelter for our mammoth 'Manny.' We loved working as a team and were so proud of the shelter that we had built for him. We have decided that we would like to build on these ideas in Forest School and also learn to make musical instruments using natural materials and resources.

Week 1

We had an amazing first week at school, and it was lovely to celebrate this milestone on Friday with an incredible assembly by Rock Steady. We loved listening to the amazing music and thought it was so funny when our teachers became part of the band!
