Our theme for this first half-term is 'This is me.'

Autumn Term 1

This week, in English, we have explored the text- The Colour Monster Goes to school. We have learnt about how to create simple labels for the monster, starting from left to right. We have also learnt about how our names are special to us, people who make up our family trees and also our likes and dislikes. In Forest School, we have learnt to mix our own mud paints, using mud and natural things to give the paints different colours.

 

Our first 3 days back at school

Our first three days back at school have been focused on establishing routines and a happy classroom.

We shared the story of The Colour Monster, where the children learnt about different emotions and feelings, linked to the children also starting school. We have learnt about the key emotions of happiness, sadness, anger, fear, love and calmness. Each emotion had a corresponding colour, yellow for happiness, blue for sadness, red for anger, black for fear, pink for love and green for calmness.

We also made our own Colour Monsters to reflect our learning.
