Week Five - 4.10.21

We have been writing stories about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii this work, thinking about writing in the first person and using consistent tense throughout our stories. It has been hard work writing our plans, then drafting our stories before we write them up in best, but we have all worked really hard and done a great job!

In maths this week, we have been focussing on problem solving using addition and subtraction and using the inverse to check our working and answers.

Our topic work has been very exciting this week as we have been learning about tornadoes! We have looked at how tornadoes are studied by scientists in special vehicles and with specialist equipment, and then at how many homes in 'Tornado Alley' in America have storm shelters. We have designed our own underground and over-ground storm shelters; thinking about how to use the space in the best way and what we might need to stay safe in our shelter during a tornado.
