Another lovely week in Class 2 with lots of hard work and learning!
Our topic, 'Ocean Explorer' started with us enjoying some of BBC's 'Our Planet' showing us the wonder and marvel of life on a coral reef. We have written some wonderful descriptive writing based on what we saw and we are really proud of our work!
We are still working on place value and this week have looked at negative numbers and adding and subtracting 10, 100 and 1000 from a given number. We will be moving onto rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 next week - this can be a tricky concept for some children so we've left lots of time aside for it.
Our PE lessons are on Wednesdays and Thursdays, although it's helpful to have PE kits in from Mondays so that your child definitely has it for their PE lessons, and it's available should they need an emergency set of clothes or pair of shoes - especially as we move into the winter months when shoes and uniforms get muddy without them even trying!
Please keep checking your child's temperature if you think they are unwell (anything over 37.8 is considered high and needs self isolation and a test) and keeping an eye on any coughs they might have - our guidelines are that if a child coughs a lot for more than hour, or has 3 big coughing fits in 24 hours then we need to send them home to self isolate and to get a test. If we think you child is unwell and shows either of these symptoms we will need you to collect them immediately and self isolate until you get a negative test result.
I realise this may seem a little over reactive as there is a cold going around, but we must do our best to protect the school community, especially those amongst our community who are more vulnerable or elderly.
